Small Chalice with Cracks and Ruptures
Pinched chalice from black stoneware with a matte-white glaze. Made when the clay is drier than what I usually work with, intending to create a rougher texture, allowing cracks and tears in the surface.
I find that pinched vessels fit wonderfully next to paintings, beloved textiles and generally in your personally important spots of your home. They bring a handmade quality of close attention, and a testimony for the time spent making them, in repeated rhythmic touch.
Decorative object. Signed at bottom with a glossy glaze.
Hand wash.
H8.5 x 7cm (h3.3" x 2.75")
